Frequently Asked Questions

Are you accepting new patients?

Unfortunately we are unable to accept new patients to the clinic now or in the future. Please note this includes family members of current patients. We aim to provide optimal care to our current patients and feel that increasing the size of our patient list would substantially increase wait times.

How can I review my results?

The clinic will contact you if the doctors require to see you for a result-we will make 3 attempts to contact you via email/phone if it is non-urgent. If you have not received a call/email and want to ensure we have received and reviewed your results, please contact the clinic and our staff will be able to let you know if your results have been reviewed (however staff will not be able to give you results).

Please note that we do not contact you about abnormal tests that the clinic receives that were requested by a specialist or another physician, you need to contact the ordering physician of the test to review these results.

If you have not received an email/call but still wish to review your results with a doctor, please feel free to book a virtual/telephone appointment using the link at top.

Please save no-reply@cognisantmd.com to your address book to ensure our emails come to your inbox and not junk mail. If you do not have an email, we will contact you via phone however this process takes longer than emailing you. If anything is urgent, please note we will contact you in a timely manner.

How long do my results take to come back?

We generally receive most results within 1 week if ordered by our team. However if your test was requested by another doctor or specialist, we may not receive these results and you should review them with the doctor who requested them.

How do I request repeat prescriptions?

If you require a routine repeat prescription, please request from your pharmacy directly at least 10 days in advance. Please be aware that prescription requests from pharmacies can take 3 business days to process. We do not offer same day prescription renewals. If it has been 1 year since your last prescription review, it is likely the doctor will need to see you in person for an annual check up first. If you have any long term conditions such as diabetes or heart failure, you will likely need to have telephone/virtual review with the doctor first. Please book an appointment online.

Do I need an appointment for injections?

No appointment is necessary for injections. However the Doctors may not be present during all opening hours so feel free to book an appointment if available or just call prior to your planned visit to ensure a doctor is present in the clinic.

I’ve been referred to a specialist, what next?

If you have been advised by our doctors that we will send a referral to a specialist, please allow 2-4 weeks to be contacted by the specialist’s office for your appointment. If you do not hear back in this time period, please contact the specialist directly if you know who you have been referred to, or contact our office.

I am travelling and wondering about travel vaccines and advice?

We do not offer travel vaccine consultations. This is a private service that you can access via local travel clinics or pharmacies, you can simply search for ‘travel vaccine clinic’ in your area, the clinic will provide you with advice and give you any required vaccines or medications suggested. This service is not covered by OHIP.
